What’s new in Deskless 3.0, and is it available?
Version 3.0 brings Agent Mode 2.0, which runs your project’s checks before you review its patch; free everyday Git; pull and merge request reviews on GitHub, GitLab and Forgejo/Gitea; code navigation from the editor; offline npm and Python packages, SQLite and async debugging; and Sign in with Grok. iOS 3.0.0 is available on the App Store as of October 17, 2026. Android 3.0.0 is in review on Google Play; until it is approved, Android users have 2.1. See Release notes for details.
Which devices does Deskless support?
The iOS app requires iOS or iPadOS 26 or later. Android requires Android 12 or later. The native interfaces adapt to phones, tablets and external keyboards. On-device AI has additional hardware, OS, language and model-readiness requirements; installing Deskless does not guarantee device-model support.
Do I need Pro or an API key for on-device AI?
No. On-device quick actions use supported, enabled Apple Intelligence or Gemini Nano with AICore and a ready model. The Offline Agent proposes small, reviewed project edits: Beta on iOS, and Experimental on Android in 3.0, where it often misses requirements. Inspect proposals and local checks. Cloud Agent Mode and cloud AI require Pro and your own provider API key, with separate provider charges.
Why is on-device AI unavailable?
Check the model status shown in the app. Apple Intelligence must be supported, enabled and ready; Android needs a supported Gemini Nano/AICore device and a ready model. Initial model preparation may require networking, and OS or model downloads may still be in progress. An unsupported device cannot be made compatible by a Deskless Pro purchase.
How do I open or clone a project?
Create or open a local project from the workspace, or choose Clone Repository and enter an HTTPS or SSH Git URL. Cloning is free in 3.0; on Android it requires Pro until 3.0 is approved on Google Play. Git remotes can be hosted on GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket or self-hosted servers. Pull and merge request reviews support GitHub, GitLab and Forgejo/Gitea.
How do I run a project?
Open a folder, choose Project Tools, and configure the runtime, entry file and tests. Run and Test capture current files and unsaved drafts. Supported JavaScript, TypeScript, Python and SQL projects run locally. Project Tools can install pure npm packages and Python wheels for offline use in 3.0; no install scripts run, and this is not a full Node.js environment, system shell or native mobile app build system. Python on Android needs a compatible System WebView.
How do I connect an AI provider?
With Pro, open AI Providers in Settings, add OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, Grok or OpenRouter, and supply that provider’s API key. In 3.0, Grok can also use Sign in with Grok with an eligible account. Keys use your operating system’s secure storage.
What does cloud Agent Mode change?
Agent Mode 2.0 handles multi-step work. It explores your project, edits a private draft, runs your project’s checks on the device, and pauses for your review. You can approve or reject by file or individual hunk. Tasks save checkpoints you can review or resume, and can work on their own Git branch. The separate Offline Agent uses the device model for smaller local proposals.
Does Deskless upload my code?
Projects are stored locally. Cloud AI sends the relevant code and context to the provider you choose; with OpenRouter, that includes OpenRouter and the selected model’s hosting provider. Git push, pull and merge requests, and package installs communicate with the services involved. Deskless does not proxy or retain cloud AI requests on its own servers.
Can I work without a connection?
Local browsing and editing, local Git commits and the bundled project tools work offline once required resources are ready. Initial model preparation can require a download. Cloning, pulling, pushing, pull and merge requests, package installs, SSH and cloud AI need access to the relevant remote service.
Are editor features and layouts identical on both platforms?
Both apps offer the language catalog, project tools, diagnostics, search, Git and SSH workflows with native controls. Code folding and multiple cursors are on iOS now and arrive on Android with 3.0. Android uses its own foldable, tabletop and desktop-window layouts; iPhone Duo has fold-aware layout choices. Expanded workspace layouts require Pro.
How do I manage or cancel Pro?
Use the subscriptions area for the store account that completed the purchase. On Apple devices, manage it through your Apple Account subscriptions. On Android, use Google Play subscriptions.
My agent task was interrupted. Is it gone?
Agent Mode saves checkpoints. Open Saved Tasks to review a task or explicitly resume it in the same unchanged project; nothing resumes automatically. Recovered Offline Agent proposals also require an unchanged project and fresh local checks before application.
